Although it's a small island Ireland has produced a total of four Nobel Prize Winners for Literature, George Bernard Shaw, W.B Yeats, Samuel Beckett, and Seamus Heaney as well as the internationally acclaimed James Joyce and Jonathan Swift.
Dublin has always been a writer's city, and in our Writers Tour we explore the background, birth places and venues synonymous with this country's most famous poets, dramatists and writers. Included in the programme is a talk on some of our most famous writers, which will be given in the appropriate surroundings of the Writers Museum in Dublin.
Since the 18th century Irish writers, including those working and/or resident In England have had a major impact on English Literature, none more so than Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels. A visit to St. Patrick's Cathedral where Swift was once Dean is included in our programme.
