POSITION: Senior Customer Care Executive, International Markets Groups Department 

THE COMPANY: Abbey Tours Limited, the largest privately owned incoming Tour Operator in Ireland which was founded in 1978. In 2008, Abbey Tours Scotland was established as an inbound tour operating into Scotland on a business to business basis.  The company has four different divisions specialising in specific types of inbound tourism: 

  • Group Tours Department
  • Individual & Online Travel Department
  • Incentive and Events Department  
  • Association Conference Department

There is currently a vacancy within the International Markets Groups Department for a Senior Customer Care Executive.  

BACKGROUND: We are looking to appoint a person whose core responsibility will be for the Account Handling/Customer Care area of the International Markets Groups Department of Abbey Tours for Ireland and UK. In addition the position may also extend to cover support in any of the Company’s Groups and Operations Departments as the need arises. This is a Dublin based position reporting to the Operations Manager.  

TITLE:                        Senior Customer Care Executive, Internaltional Markets Groups Department

AVAILABILITY:           Immediately 

QUALIFICATION:      Good knowledge of the Irish and Scottish tourism industry products and in particular the handling of hotel and other tourism product bookings; a minimum of two years experience in a similar role is required. Good communication skills and telephone manner required, together with flexibility and adaptability in approach. The successful candidate must also demonstrate a strong commercial focus.  

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: Ability to communicate in any European language is a distinct advantage (both verbal and written).  

SALARY:                    Negotiable depending on experience

COMPUTER:             Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite of programmes is desirable. 

CORE DUTIES INCLUDE:         

Managing the Account Handling/Customer Services function for Ireland and Scotland (and the rest of the UK as appropriate) for the International Markets Groups Department – key to this is to ensure that all group operations for the department run smoothly, on a timely basis and to ensure that the Company’s profit margin targets are achieved on each file. 

  • Co-ordinate, support and manage the activities of all Customer Care Executives and trainees in the International Markets Groups Department, including regular meetings and mentoring. This function also extends to staff rostering and handling annual leave requests and workloads during annual leave periods.      
  • Ensure that the Department’s 24 hour emergency phone number is in operation at all times. This also includes sharing the roster duty with other Customer Care staff members from the International Markets Groups Department.     
  • The position may also extend to cover support in any of the Company’s Groups and Operations Departments as the need arises.  
  •  Full utilisation of the Tourplan system to generate all client and supplier communications, also ensuring that the confirmed proposal is accurately reflected in Tourplan thereby facilitating a smooth and accurate accounting process.       
  •  Any agreed sales and marketing activities, either in Ireland or in the overseas market place. This could take the form of either desk based activities or direct agent/client interaction.   
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time by your Manager or Director (and this could be in another Department within Abbey Tours Dublin). 
  • You will report to the Operations Manager
